Hello, my name is Patricia Coppola.
My mission is to educate and inspire healthy, mindful and meaningful way of living by helping others embrace the concept that we are a product of what we eat, how we live and treat ourselves and others.
I am a certified holistic health coach who focuses on food as medicine. I studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in New York. I am a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-NWC), Certified Journey of Intrinsic Health Coach, (practices and protocols by Zach Bush, MD) and a Certified Toxicity and Detox Specialist, (protocols by Dr. Daniel Pompa). Currently enrolled to study and receive a certification in Soil Restoration with Dr. Elaine Ingham, The founder of the Soil Food Web.
I mentored and studied under Dr. Dalal Akoury, the founder of Awaremed Health and Wellness Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. Awaremed is a medical clinic that specializes in cancer treatment, chronic disease, pain management, addiction recovery, IV therapies and anti-aging treatment
With the help of integrative physicians, I enjoy taking the detective approach to find the underlying causes of disease or chronic illness. I have discovered, based on the autonomic physiology, different types of people have different dietary needs, respond differently to nutritional supplements, and even have different “normal” parameters for various blood tests. I spend time getting to know my clients through an extensive health history and design an individualized plan that will best fit their needs and goals.
I started to appreciate the healing modalities of food after I came to the United States at age 16. I grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria, and experienced firsthand the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet. In the first few years of living in the US, I adopted the Standard American Diet (SAD) which, includes low and no-fat highly processed foods. These choices lead to health concerns including digestive issues and candidiasis. It took years to get diagnosed and treated. Realizing that we are a product of what we eat, I dove head first into learning about the science of nutrition, critically weeding out fad diets and dietary philosophies that were based on opinion and not science. I learned, when given the right environment, the body has an incredible ability to heal itself from within. The truth is, your body does not care what you believe is healthy – there are certain nutrient needs that absolutely must be met in order for you to achieve vibrant health.
In my personal time I enjoy reading, spending quality time with family and friends, meditating, ballroom dancing, rollerblading, yoga, gardening, camping, and hiking. I always stay proactive in continuing my education and research in the field of health and wellness.
